Yesterday I came into
Hamble Point Marina
exactly 11 weeks after setting off to attempt to become the youngest person to sail solo round Britain, at 15.
Here is my trip in numbers:
34 knots strongest wind (and yes, the Giga Turbines survived it!)
343 hours sailing
1,740 miles
39 days at sea
14 nights at sea
68 snack bars consumed (I’ve lost count of teabags)
**** swear words (mainly into the wind… But it doesn’t count if no one can hear you!)
It was surreal coming back into the Hamble yesterday and I was very moved to have the welcome back that I did. I was also very surprised to see the BBC South sports reporter Lewis Coombes and his cameraman filming my arrival from the pontoon! I was then totally taken aback when they showed me a clip of Sir Robin Knox-Johnstone and Alex Thomson Racing congratulating me on my trip! You can see the full footage on yesterday’s BBC South Today clip below. Over the past 11 weeks I have had an amazing adventure and I cannot wait to share some of the highs and lows of the trip… There are many!
However, before all of this I would like to thank all of my sponsors and supporters, who have helped me with everything; from getting the right kit to undertake the trip, to the individuals who supported my crowdfunding campaign which kickstarted the project.
