At the age of 15, Tim sailed solo around Britain, following in the footsteps of his idol, Dame Ellen McArthur.  This achievement was recognised by respected sailors, amongst them Sir Robin Knox Johnston who said: “It’s a tough route and to pull it off at your age is brilliant. I’m sure we’re going to hear more of you”(BBC South Today, October 2020)

Well…Sir Robin was right! Fast forward to 2023 and, aged 18, weeks after completing his A’ levels, Tim successfully finished his first professional solo offshore race in the French Figaro 3 class – a highly competitive fleet which is renowned for creating the sailing legends of the future.

This year, he has his sights set on the 55th Solitaire du Figaro, at the age of 19. The race is renowned for breeding the sailing legends of the future. Every Vendée Globe winner since 1992 has previously finished the Solitaire du Figaro.
