Today I reached a major landmark of my trip, the Caledonian Canal. This marks the end of the East Coast and also means that I am half way! So I’m pretty happy about that!
I also achieved a big personal goal of mine which was to fly the spinnaker on Alchemy. Some of you might know but a spinnaker is basically a huge sail that you use for sailing when the wind is coming from behind you. They are also infamously known for being very difficult to handle!
I did this in Loch Ness this afternoon after a morning of going through locks. I will probably be in the Caledonian Canal for the next couple of days and then I’ll be out on the West Coast with my first stop being Oban!
